Now with added video. 2012 has been such a great year for music. So many of my old favourites have released exceptional songs with plenty of new artists to enjoy.

Public Enemy are back in the UK charts. An inspired choice for Channel 4's Paralympics Promo:
The standout group from last month's Latitude Festival. One of the best live bands I've seen in very long time. If you know me, I'm afraid I'm going to be banging on about them for the foreseeable future. thisispolica.com
New album in October. Copper Blue was 20 years ago.
It’s easy to throw around words like “vibrant” and “young” and waffle about the British sense of humour and post-Empire faded greatness. That doesn’t come close to the heart of what happened last night.…
New album coming in October.
Seriously, you've got to love this band.

Blog post.
Two ridiculously long song titles in a row. One of the highlights of last weekend's Latitude Festival were this very poppy Norwegian band. This was the standout track. Shame the dancing woman isn't part of the ensemble.
Voyageur is up for best album in the Polaris Music Prize nominations (Canada's equivalent of the Mercury). Damn right too. If I hear a finer album in 2012, I'll be very happy indeed.

Gary Kemp, How We Made True: I was infatuated with Clare Grogan \[the Altered Images singer and star of Gregory's Girl\]. I met her on Top of the Pops and, at one point, travelled up to Scotland to have tea with her and her mum and dad.…
Kate Nash's second album My Best Friend Is You was released two years ago this week. I still play it regularly. A largely overlooked classic.
Fred Harris is the bloke who stacks the blocks into the Chockablock Block Stock.
My favourite new band. They have three incredible albums, the latest of which came out this week.
I tried to write you an indie love song. What I came up with was only this one. Impossibly catchy. Brilliant.
Wikipedia: Two videos were filmed for the song. The version used for promotion on television, commissioned by the record label, features teenagers in various everyday group situations with lyrics from the song occasionally flashing on the…
